The Benefits of Breastfeeding
Health Canada recommends that babies be fed ONLY breastmilk for the first six (6) months due to the many health benefits for babies, including:

Builds strong immune systems, and

Reduces risk of illness
Breastfeeding also has a number of benefits for mothers such as reduced risk of breast and ovarian cancer, heart disease and Type II diabetes.

Our network meets quarterly to discuss important issues in breastfeeding research. Meeting topics are determined by the Advisory Committee with input from our members.

BREASTFEEDING INDICATORS
Members of the Canadian Breastfeeding Research Network met on March 8, 2024 for a productive and informative discussion on Breastfeeding Surveillance and Indicators.
